The Annunciation:
Art & Music as the Medium for Announcing the Mysteries of Faith
A Retreat for Those Interested in the Liturgical Arts

Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish, Bernardsville, NJ
Beginning with a light breakfast at 8:30 a.m., we will convene in the church at 9:00 a.m. for a service of sung Morning Prayer. Attendees will practice Visio Divina* using an altarpiece copy of the painting “The Annunciation” by Simone Martini and Lippo Memmi. Our study will include historical context and implications for us as worshipers, practicing artists and musicians.
Fr. Edward is a teacher in the Theology Department at Delbarton School, a Catholic college-preparatory school in Morristown, New Jersey, and is Prior-Administrator of St. Mary's Abbey. Drawing on his specialization in Art History and experience as a spiritual leader, he will help us to better understand the role of music and art in the liturgy.
